Lee Heaton – Podiatrist
BSc(Hons), MSc(Med), MSc(Pod), PgDip(Pod.Surg)
Lee graduated as a Podiatrist in 1997 from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff(UWIC) in the UK. Shortly after he moved to South Africa and established a new service for Lifecare special health services. After a short while he started his own private practice, and lectured part time at the University of Johannesburg in clinical orthopaedics and sports podiatry.
During this time, he completed several postgraduate studies including a Masters degree in Medicine, a Masters degree in Podiatry, a Postgraduate Diploma in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery, several injection therapy courses, and techniques in podiatric aesthetics.
Lee has also worked in the UK, Kuwait and New Zealand, so is quite the international practitioner, but calls the Sunshine Coast home.
He has been fortunate to experience a wide cross section of work within the podiatry profession, and has been involved in academia, research, public and private practice, as well as commissioning and developing a diabetic foot service.
Podiatry has a varied workload and this is what he enjoys as it provides interesting and challenging caseloads. There are always new developments and technologies evolving, and life long learning has always been a key part of his practice in order to experience and develop new and enhanced skills. His interests lie in all fields of Podiatry, but he has particular interest in musculoskeletal therapies. Other areas of interest include:
